What this app does?

  1. Entering a LOCODE returns a list of valid Port Facilities. The app runs a search in the IMO's GISIS database (last update July 24, 2024). If any results are available, by following the pinpoint link, you can learn more about its geographic position, facility details, port facility contact, and organizational contacts, as reported to the IMO.
  2. No facility returned? If no facility is returned, then the next step is to run a search against the same database for Facility Name and Port Name. Eg: Gebze, Korfez, DP World, Socep.
  3. Nothing yet? Next step is to list all available ports for this specific country, once you entered its full name. Eg: "Turkye", "United Kingdom", etc. Once the ports are listed, click on the port of interest to get a list with available facilities.
  4. If no result is returned so far, the app will run a search against UNECE LOCODE database (next update July 24, 2024) and returns a synonim where available (another LOCODE with same geographical coordonates as the inserted one. Eg: looking up GRFLS (it has no occurence in the GISIS database) returns GREEU, which appears in GISIS. Clicking on this result, the app returns the facilities listed in GISIS for GREEU.
  5. At the end the app will check for discrepancies between the LOCODE from above and the LOCODE at it appears into GISIS database. Eg: YALOVA appears into GISIS database with LOCODE of TRYLA which is not a port as per UNECE. Instead, UNECE lists TRYAL as being a port and facilities are listed under this LOCODE. All you have to do, if it happens, is to use UNECE's LOCODE of TRYLA and facilities listed for TRYAL.
