What this app does?
- The system assumes the text you enter is a UN/LOCODE and uses it to retrieve a list of valid Port Facilities, each identified by its port facility number, from the IMO's GISIS database (last updated on September 10, 2025). If results are available, you can follow the pinpoint link to learn more about the geographic position, facility details, port facility contact, and organizational contacts as reported to the IMO.
- No facility returned? If no facility is returned, the next step is to run a search against the same database using the Facility Name and Port Name. For example:
Gebze, Korfez, DP World, Socep.
- Still nothing? The next step is to assume you are requesting a list of all available ports for a specific country after entering a country name, e.g., 'Turkey', 'United Kingdom', etc. Once the ports are listed, click on the port of interest to get a list of declared facilities.
- If no result is returned so far, the app will search the UNECE LOCODE database (latest update on January 15, 2025) and attempt to return
a synonym where available. For example, looking up GRFLS (which has no occurrence in the GISIS database) returns GREEU, which appears in GISIS.
Clicking on this result will display the facilities listed in GISIS for GREEU.

Still nothing? At the end the app will check for discrepancies between the LOCODE from above and the LOCODE at it appears into GISIS database.
Eg: YALOVA appears into GISIS database with LOCODE of TRYLA which is not a port as per UNECE. Instead,
UNECE lists TRYAL as being a port and facilities are listed under this LOCODE. All you have to do, if it happens, is to use UNECE's LOCODE of
TRYLA and facilities listed for TRYAL.
